HISTORY OF RCCG VICTORY AT LAST: THE JOURNEY SO FAR
VICTORY AT LAST is one of the ever-growing parishes of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). RCCG is a worldwide church organisation established since 1952 with a mandate to take the gospel of salvation to the entire world in line with the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.
RCCG Victory At Last, Ikoyi was established by Pastor C. Chikelue, the then Zonal Pastor of RCCG, Lagos Province 16, Zone 9, Area 6, on the 6th of February, 2000, is a Church where God is celebrated on a daily basis. In its twelve years of existence, the Church has had the priviledge of being led by 4 Pastors. The founding pastor of the Church was Pastor C. Amaechi who handed over the baton of leadership to Deacon B. O. Sogunro in 2002. Pastor Sogunro led the flock diligently until year 2006 when Assistant Pastor Tunji Oladimeji was appointed the Parish Pastor. In 2010, a major transformation was witnessed in the Church as it became an Area Headquarters under Ikoyi Zone and with the elevation in status, Asst Pastor Shade Onanuga, then Area Pastor of Ikoyi Area 32, was moved to Victory at Last as the maiden pastor of the new Ikoyi Area 2 with headquarters being Victory at Last Parish.
RCCG Victory at Last is a household name within Dolphin Estate, from where it started and is still located despite having changed locations 4 times all within the Estate. The Church is celebrating the 12th year anniversary at 178A Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, where the church has been situated in the last 9years. God helping us, our 13th year anniversary, shall be celebrated in our own Auditorium, our own edifice where God will make room for us. Our faith and belief in God to perform this is unshakeable.
God has indeed been good to us in Ikoyi Area 2; from 3 churches in October, 2010, we have grown to five churches and we are believing God to enlarge us the more in size and number. The four other churches under Victory at Last are; Kings Palace, Divine Favour, Rehoboth Parish and
Victory at Last, as a Parish, annually celebrates God’s faithfulness. In year One, we keyed in onto ‘Open heavens’; year two, we received ‘the breath of life’. Oh God is faithful, in year 3, we ‘beheld the glory of God’. In year four, we said ‘It is well with me and in year five, we said ‘that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection. Our God is good, in year 6, we realized that ‘Not being consumed, for his compassion faileth not’ and in year 7, we became ‘Heaven Seekers’. In year 8 we ‘recovered the lost grounds’. In year 9 and 10, God was great in our lives and in year 11, we celebrated the ‘God of wonders’. In our 12th year, God told us categorically, that ‘He is our banner – Jehovah Nissi’ and so we are not afraid to war. He will go for us and we will hold our peace. He is the mighty man in battle. No matter the battles we face in Nigeria, in our homes, in our lives, Jesus is the winner man every time and so our Victory is assured.
We stand solidly on the path of truth and absolute faith in God saying that ‘with God on our side, who can be against us?’. God has been so good to us. Testimonies of God’s faithfulness are shared regularly. God has raised great men and women of repute within the church. Our youths are bouncing in the Lord and our children are being recognized in places that matter. New things happen in our midst. This is the goodness of God and we say ‘Thank you Jesus’.
From all of us at Victory at Last, we say, WELCOME ...
